Welcome to Newlands!

Pupil Progress

All pupils at Newlands have either an Education, Health and Care Plan (known in Rochdale as 'My Plan')  or a Statement of Special Educational Needs.  Those with a Statement will be supported through a transfer process during 2016-17 to convert this into an EHCP.

All pupils enter and leave the school with attainments that are significantly below the National Expectations for their age.

Progress at Newlands is measured in different ways. This includes Pre-National Curriculum (P Level) scores (informed by PIVATS) and a Continuum of Skills Development.  We work to document pupil progress in relation to children's specific skills and, linked to our process of school improvement, are making further changes to how we do this in 2016-17.

The school currently uses CASPA software to provide an indication of pupil progress when compared with other children attending special schools nationally.  CASPA expectations exceed those presented in the goverment Progression Guidance (2012).

Expected progress (and above this) for 2015-16, according to CASPA is noted below.
