History & PE

March 2024

Yellow Class have started to look at past photos of ourselves in our History lessons. We enjoyed looking in mirrors at our reflection and compared this to what we looked like when we were younger! We have also enjoyed exploring lots of different styles of dance in our PE lessons- especially ballet and tap!

Spring 1

February 2024

Yellow Class have been super busy this term!

We have been focusing on our writing skills. We have been enjoying weekly Write Dance sessions and we have been using whiteboard markers to make vertical and horizontal lines, zig zags and circles.

Our science topic was rocks! We enjoyed exploring rocks in different ways. We used magnifying glasses to look at them in some sand and we investigated a rock pool with some "fish."

During our PE lessons we have been exploring different styles of music and dance. We have enjoyed using scarves and ribbons and we have even put on some tutus and have been practising some ballet.

Sensory Food Exploration

October 2023

Yellow Class have had a very busy week dressing up as construction workers and exploring different textures. We explored chocolate angel delight which looked like mud and was very gooey! We also explored rice, porridge oats and shredded wheat, which we enjoyed pushing the toy trucks and diggers in.

In food technology we made a fruit salad. We took it in turns to develop our skills, chopping different fruits and then adding them to the bowl. Once we had chopped, we all sat around the table tasting our fruit salad which consisted of, apples, bananas, melon, raspberries and pineapple. Some of us even discovered fruit that we didn’t know we liked!

Autumn

October 2023

Yellow Class have had a great start to the school year!

In Maths this half term, we have been learning about shapes! We have explored shapes in different sensory materials such as cornflour, water, sand and play doh. We have enjoyed using chalks outside to try and copy adult's movements to draw circles and we have used glue to stick the same shapes together.

In music we have joined in with some Charanga songs and we have loved exploring the large piano! We have experimented with different notes that were played from the piano keys noticing how the sound varied in pitch.

We have been focusing on our knife skills during food technology lessons, we practised spreading different fillings on our sandwiches and we chopped different fruit to create a yummy fruit salad.
