Science Week 2024

During our Science Week, Newlands met a variety of animals and insects. Linking to our animals topic in Science, we met stick insects, African snails, rats, frogs and a cockroach! We enjoyed listening to our presenter and learning all about what certain animals need to survive. Furthermore, we had a special visit from our school rabbit. We learnt how to feed the rabbit and what he needs to live. We looked at the rabbits habitat and how its very different to our own! At the end of the week, we had a visit from Bear (an Alaskan malamute). We learnt about Bear's diet and what Bear enjoys doing in his spare time. Some classes fed bear and learnt all about his diet.

Throughout the week, each class conducted experiments in class and in other classes. We made rockets using bicarbonate soda and vinegar. Some classes made slime! Newlands enjoyed engaging in a variety of experiments and learning all about Science!
